Troop 101 Supporting Atlanta Health Care Providers
Troop Committee Member Dr. Terri Hyde recently connected our Scouts with the Atlanta Face Shields Fundraiser, a group of volunteers using 3D printers to make face shields to donate to local hospitals in critical need of personal protection equipment (PPE).
Our Scouts competed in their patrols to raise $1,600 for raw materials for shields created by industrial designer Jim Ferguson. Using a face shield can extend the life of N95 respirators, helping nurses and doctors avoid infection.
Thus far the organizers have delivered over 1,500 face shields to local hospitals, eldercare facilities, and dentists providing emergency procedures.
Troop 101 families also collected trash bags used to make 400 protective gowns via a program organized by a nurse anesthetist at a local hospital.
We’re proud of how our Scouts have continued their community service work during our time away from regular meetings.
